Mother, Son Escape San Leandro Fire
A neighbor walking past the home spotted the fire and alerted the residents.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A mother and her 12-year-old son escaped injury when they got out of their San Leandro home where the attic caught fire today, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded at 12:10 p.m. to the fire in the 1200 block of Trojan Avenue.
Fire officials said a neighbor was walking by the home and saw smoke coming from the attic. The neighbor alerted the mother and son by knocking on the front door.

Firefighters kept the fire from spreading beyond the attic. Fire officials said they don't know the cause of the fire.
No one reported being injured.
