Oakland Murder Suspect Faces Judge
A carjacking attempt turned deadly, according to authorities.

OAKLAND, CA — A San Francisco man appeared in court today on a murder charge for allegedly fatally shooting a man during an attempted carjacking in East Oakland in August.
Ibrahim Saleh, 20, didn't enter a plea today for the death of 38-year-old Esau Davis of Oakland and is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 7 to enter a plea at that time.
Oakland police Sgt. Bradley Baker wrote in a probable cause statement that Davis was confronted and shot by two suspects while he was standing in the 1300 block of 72nd Avenue at about 7 p.m. on Aug. 26 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim, a woman, was shot in the leg but survived her injuries and the suspects fled the scene in a Honda Crosstour, Baker wrote.
Surveillance footage was used to identify Saleh as a suspect in the shooting and his cellphone records placed him at the scene, according to Baker.

However, Saleh tried to cover up his connection to the homicide by reporting that the license plates for the Honda had been stolen, Baker wrote.
Saleh was arrested on a warrant in San Francisco on Oct. 17 and allegedly admitted his involvement in the shooting. He told police that he and his co-conspirator were attempting to rob Davis of his vehicle and "the incident went bad," Baker wrote.
Saleh also admitted being the driver and that he shot Davis during the attempted robbery, according to Baker.
Saleh, who was charged on Oct. 22, is charged with murder, attempted carjacking and assault with a semi-automatic firearm for allegedly shooting the second victim.
The second suspect in the shooting remains at large.
