Planting Garlic In The Autumn Garden: Photos Of The Day
A Master Gardener in San Leandro keeps weeds down by planting garlic cloves in the holes cut in cardboard.
SAN LEANDRO, CA — Have you planted your autumn and winter garden yet? Master gardener Miyo Burnett has some tips on planting garlic, which needs to get into the ground soon.
"My garlic grows better without winter weeds," Miyo said in an email, "so this pre-formed cardboard is perfect for each garlic clove. Covered with amended soil and mulch. Will let winter rains do their work."
Thank you for the suggestion, Miyo!
