
SAN LEANDRO, CA — A cell phone was snatched from a victim on the platform of the San Leandro BART station Sunday afternoon. The thief got away.
A BART traveler was robbed of his cellphone in a grand theft Sunday afternoon at the Bayfair station in San Leandro, police said.
Officers responded at 1:50 p.m. to the station at 15242 Hesperian Blvd. where a person ran up to the victim on a platform and took his cellphone from his hand.

Police said the suspect kept running and ran onto a train, leaving the victim behind.
Officers searched for the suspect but could not find him or the phone.

Police said the suspect is described as a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet tall with a medium build and a short fade-style haircut.
He also had a stubbly beard and was wearing a baggy black hooded sweatshirt, baggy blue jeans and red tennis shoes.
