San Leandro Marina Fire Destroys Former Harbor Master's Office
The abandoned building is expected to be a total loss.
SAN LEANDRO, CA — The former Harbor Master's office at the San Leandro Marina was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported.
The fire was just a single alarm, but it put out so much smoke that the Alameda County Fire Department advised Oakland International Airport, which reported no impact on flights.
The fire started around 8:30 a.m. at the abandoned office, which is expected to be a total loss, according to fire department spokesperson Cheryl Hurd.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Fish And Game both responded because of concerns that water runoff may impact wildlife.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
