San Leandro Public Library Hosts Bookmark Design Contest

SAN LEANDRO, CA — The San Leandro Public Library is hosting a bookmark design contest in honor of Art IS Education month celebrated in March each year, the city of San Leandro announced in a news release.

Residents of all ages are invited to design a bookmark for the contest before March 22 to be entered for a chance to win, the city said.

Library staff will choose three winners, one from each age group, after the competition ends, the city said.

Winning designers will receive a prize and their design will be mass printed and made available to San Leandro Public Library and Museum patrons beginning April 23 for National Library Week, the city said.

Designs can be submitted to the Main Library, 300 Estudillo Avenue, or Manor Branch Library

Visit the Main Library at 300 Estudillo Avenue,or Manor Branch Library at 1241 Manor Boulevard, to pick up a submission form or click here to print a downloadable PDF version. Completed designs can be submitted at either branch.

While submitting bookmark designs, don't forget to visit the student artwork on display at both libraries for Art IS Education month.

Artwork from San Leandro Unified School District elementary school students will be displayed throughout the month at both branches.

Student artwork from Garfield, Halkin, Jefferson, McKinley, Roosevelt and Washington elementary schools will be displayed at the Main Library, while student artwork from Monroe and Madison elementary schools will be displayed at the Manor Branch, the city said.

The District's Art Specialists will host a reception to showcase student art in the Main Library children's room on Thursday, March 2 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
