San Leandro Receives State Grant for Warden Park

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Warden Park in San Leandro will be spruced up, thanks to a $163,750 grant from the
California Department of Housing and Community (HCD).

The grant is part of the Housing-Related Parks Program, designed to reward local governments that construct or rehabilitate existing housing for lower-income households. San Leandro qualified for the grant based on the renovation of the Las Palmas Apartments in 2016, a 91-unit affordable housing development.

Since 2014, San Leandro has received $1.7 million in grant funds. The money paid for improvements to Siempre Verde and Thrasher Parks, and the Chime Way project.
