San Leandro Woman Identified as Crash Victim
The driver who struck the woman had just left work.

A woman who died while crossing the street before sunrise Tuesday morning in San Leandro has been identified as Romula Tugade, 85, according to the Alameda County coroner’s bureau.
Tugade was a San Leandro resident, according to the coroner’s bureau.
Tugade was crossing the street at about 6:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Manor Boulevard when she was hit by an SUV, police said. The collision knocked her unconscious and she died at a hospital.

The driver of the SUV, a 33-year-old Hayward man, stopped and cooperated with police. The man had just left the midnight shift of a job and was driving at the speed limit of 25 mph, police said.
Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision.
