Chen, Hickey & Roberts: Winners in Friday Evening's HMS Rotary Interact Talent Show

HMS 6th grade pianist Jaron Chen, 7th grade opera singer Lauren Hickey & Valentine 2nd grade fiddler Isaac Roberts announced top winners in Friday evening's HMS Rotary Interact Talent Show.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance lead by Rotary Interact Vice-President Charlene Wu and recitation of the Four Way Test of the Things We Think, Say or Do by 6th grader Interactor Edwin Ng, an evening of enchantment ensued at the HMS Rotary Interact's First Annual All City Talent Show.

HMS 6th grade pianist Jaron Chen, HMS 7th grade opera singer Lauren Hickey, and 2nd grade fiddler Isaac Roberts, wowed our four San Marino Rotary judges at Friday evening's performance.

Jaron's interpretation of Lizst's "Un Suspiro," Lauren's angelic voice singing Giovanni's "Setum ami" in Italian,  and Isaac's powerful fiddling of "Cotton Patch Rag" were selected as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place out of a field of 26 entries. Judges , Matt Ballantyne,  Sue Spence, and Lucille Norberg found it hard to select "just three" winners amongst such a talented pool of performers.

I can't agree more; the acts were amazing! Our HMS Rotary Interact goals were to build community by showcasing local talent in a G-rated variety show while raising money for our ACS Relay for Life Team, San Marino United Against Cancer, and our HMS campus Interact Club. We did it-- and on Friday, the 13th, no less! What more could I ask for? Nothing. It was priceless.
