From elected officials and appointed commissioners to business leaders and advocates in healthcare, environmental sustainability, and youth development, the honorees represent a powerful cross-section of leadership. Each woman embodies the strength, resilience, and vision that define modern female leadership. As Congresswoman Chu expressed, it is both a privilege and an honor, on behalf of the United States House of Representatives and the people of the 28th Congressional District; to celebrate these women for their remarkable accomplishments and dedicated service.
Equally inspiring is Congresswoman Chu herself, whose lifelong dedication to public service continues to lead by example. Throughout her career, she has been a steadfast advocate for empowering women and amplifying the voices of disadvantaged families. Her work has consistently focused on ensuring access, equity, and opportunity championing policies that uplift underserved communities and protect their rights. As a trailblazer and the first Chinese American woman elected to Congress, she has not only broken barriers but also opened doors for countless others to follow. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to inclusion, civic engagement, and the belief that every voice deserves to be heard.
The ceremony was not only a formal recognition but also a deeply personal and empowering experience. I was honored to attend as a guest of our San Marino Councilwoman (2 times Mayor) Honorable Gretchen Shepherd Romey, a respected community leader I have come to know over 2 decades, through shared service in organizations such as the PTA, Girl Scouting and National Charity League to name a few... Gretchen’s passion and leadership have long inspired those around her, and it was a privilege to join her at this meaningful event.
What made the afternoon even more special was the sense of connection; upon reviewing the roster of nominees, I realized I personally knew nearly half of them. This added a profound layer of pride and joy to the celebration. Each honoree brought a unique story, shaped by her own passion and expertise, yet all were united by a shared commitment to uplifting others and strengthening the community.
The message of the day was clear and powerful: recognizing and elevating women’s contributions is not only important; it is essential. Hearing each story, told with authenticity and impact, served as a reminder of how far we have come and how vital it is to continue paving the way for future generations.
Congratulations to all the honorees. May we continue to champion, support, and celebrate women who lead with purpose and heart, and together, keep paving the road for those who follow.
