Whiz Kid: Record-Breaking Kyle Andrew Ezold
Each week, San Marino Patch highlights an individual kid, youth group, teen or sports team that wows us with their accomplishments. See who we chose this week and suggest a kid or group of kids you know for Whiz Kid of the Week.
This week's Whiz Kid's got serious rocket fuel. When he's not maintaining his 4.0 GPA, he's smashing school records in track and field. Between his studies and many athletics, Kyle Andrew Ezold still finds time to take care of the things that matter: his relationship with his friends and family.

Kyle has a 4.0 GPA and is a successful athlete in three different sports: baseball, basketball, and track and field. He's broken a 27-year league record as well as set a school record for time in the 400-meter dash during the . Kyle also helped lead the SMHS basketball team to its first CIF appearance since 1995.
In the fall Kyle will be studying business and pyschology at UCLA.
Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness:
The key to Kyle's awesomeness is more than just his talent, physical prowess and work ethic, but his determination. Even at a young age, Kyle has always had direction and maturity. Whether it's in his personal relationships, his drive to excel while staying humble, or his generous and kind heart, Kyle is a well-rounded young man who's always trying to cultivate positive relationships with the people around him. "I learned early from my parents that cultivating a positive relationship with all people creates opportunity for both parties," said Kyle.
One of things that certainly impressed me the most about this week's Whiz Kid is his work ethic. Despite San Marino High School's highly competitive academic environment, Kyle finds time to push his physical limits and rise to any challenge. He practices anywhere between two to three hours a day depending on what season's sport it is, and when he's not setting records, he's pushing himself to improve.
