$14 Adoptions For Long-Term Shelter Dogs This Valentine's Month In SMC

The humane society is dropping the adoption price for dogs who have been in their shelter or foster care for four months or longer.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA is playing Cupid this February with a special adoption event aimed at finding "Fur-ever Pal-entines" for their long-term canine residents.

Throughout the entire month of February, the PHS/SPCA is dropping the adoption fee for dogs who have been in their shelter or foster care for four months or longer to just $14.

Adopters who open their homes to one of these dogs will also receive a bundle of goodies to help them get started. The special package includes a complimentary $140 Pet Food Express card, a free six-week training class series to help the new duo bond, and a free Bark Box filled with dog toys and treats.

The PHS/SPCA, an open-admission shelter, has seen an increase in the number of large dogs arriving, and these larger pups are typically staying in the shelter longer. This month-long special is designed to encourage adoptions for these dogs who have been waiting patiently for a new family.

Interested adopters can visit the dogs all month long at the Lantos Center for Compassion, located at 1450 Rollins Rd in Burlingame, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. The center will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16 for Presidents Day.
