SAN MATEO, CA — Two East Bay men were arrested Thursday after allegedly robbing a person of a gold chain and pendant at Hillsdale Mall before fleeing in a car, San Mateo police said. Officers said they responded around 5:25 p.m. Thursday to the mall after receiving a report of a robbery that had just occurred.Police said two suspects forcibly ripped a gold chain and pendant from the victim's neck before driving away in a '90s red Subaru Outback.Officers said they located the Subaru a short time later in the Bridgepointe Shopping Center parking lot. Police said officers found two men matching the suspects' descriptions standing near the vehicle. Damien Daniels, 19, of San Leandro, was taken into custody without incident. The second suspect, Terrance Barnes, 18, of San Lorenzo, briefly ran from officers through a nearby office campus and into a large apartment complex before he was arrested, police said. Both men were booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of first-degree robbery and conspiracy, police said. Barnes was also booked on suspicion of resisting a peace officer, officials said.
