25th Ave Grade Separation Project: Shoring, Potholing Planned
Caltrain breaks down the latest on the San Mateo project.

SAN MATEO, CA — Work continues on Caltrain’s 25th Avenue Grade Separation Project to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians and reduce local traffic congestion, with the installation of temporary shoring near 31st and 25th Avenues set to begin at night on Monday, November 27.
Crews will continue installing cast-in-drilled-holes within the Caltrain right-of-way, starting with the pedestrian underpass, then moving to 28th Avenue, Borel Creek, 25th Avenue and 31st Avenue. Typically, crews construct one to two piles per night.
In addition, PG&E will be potholing for the project that may result in temporary closures on Delaware Avenue between 25thAvenue and Pacific Boulevard during the day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This grade separation project has been a goal of Caltrain and the City of San Mateo for many years. The separation will complete east-west connections at 28th and 31st Avenues, reducing local traffic congestion and increasing safety for drivers and pedestrians. In addition, a new, modernized Hillsdale station is scheduled to open in 2019.
