Bay Area Married Couple ID'd As Victims In Submerged Vehicle
As storms pummeled the Golden State last week, two people died when their vehicle became trapped in a flooded underpass in the Bay Area.
MILLBRAE, CA — Two people who were found submerged in their vehicle in a flooded Millibrae underpass were identified by authorities Monday.
Married couple Rolando Ortigas Glorioso, 63, and Susana Glorioso, 62, were both residents of Millibrae, according to the San Mateo County Coroner's office.
Around 6 a.m. on Thursday, authorities received reports of a car submerged in Millbrae near the intersection of E. Hillcrest Boulevard and Hemlock Avenue, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

A witness told authorities that they saw two people standing on the roof of their car as waters rose beneath a Caltrain overpass, officials said.
Rescue crews arrived on scene and were able to rescue two people from the vehicle, but they were not able to save two people trapped in a second vehicle that was fully submerged, officials said.

"First responders attempted to gain access to the secondary vehicle during the attempted rescue, the conditions became too dangerous for first responders, as the floodwaters were rising rapidly," San Mateo Sheriff's Department authorities wrote in a statement.
After water receded, officials found the Millibrae couple and they were pronounced dead.
