Bicyclist Killed In Peninsula Crash ID'd
The crash occurred late Wednesday morning in Moss Beach, the CHP said.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A Peninsula bicyclist killed in a crash Wednesday on Highway 1 has been identified as Harald Herrmann, 55 of Moss Beach, the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office said.
Vincent D. Qualls, 43 of Oakland, was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter with gross negligence in connection with the crash, the CHP said.
Qualls suffered moderate injuries that required hospitalization, the agency said.

Officers at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday responded to a report of a crash in Moss Beach on Highway 1 northbound near Cypress Avenue, the CHP said.
Investigators believe Qualls was driving a Hino box truck traveling southbound that veered into the northbound lane for reasons not yet determined, colliding with the bicyclist who was riding on the shoulder of the northbound lane, the CHP said.

The box truck came to rest after striking a tree, the agency said.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
It does not appear drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash, the CHP said.
