Boat Promoting Peace In Gaza Stops In San Mateo County

The Golden Rule Peace boat continued its voyage and screened a documentary about how the historic boat's quest against nuclear weapons.

SAN MATEO, CA — The Golden Rule Peach Boat has been traveling throughout the Bay Area raising awareness about nuclear disarmament, militarism, and justice. Recently stopping in San Mateo — there will be a documentary screening about the historic boat on Tuesday.

"Its Bay Area voyage comes at a time of global crisis, from the 80th anniversaries of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, to ongoing genocide in Gaza, the national guards on the streets of cities in the U.S., and the ever-growing risks of nuclear war," Golden Ruler Peace Boat officials said.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, there will be a gathering and a documentary screening of "Golden Rule: The Journey for Peace" at 1179 San Carlos Ave. in San Carlos.

Speaking at the event will be Gerry Condon, from Veterans for Peace and the Golden Rule Committee Chair, who raised in San Mateo; and Dr. Dylan Spaulding, Senior Scientist for the Global Security Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists.

“The Golden Rule carries a message for all generations: that peace, disarmament, and justice must be charted together,” said Michelle KanoeLehua Marsonette, Project Manager for the boat’s August journey.
