Bay Area Residents Urged To Stay Alert As Rattlesnake Activity Increases Across Northern California
As warmer temperatures arrive across Northern California and the Bay Area, local wildlife experts are warning residents to stay alert for increasing rattlesnake activity in neighborhoods, parks, hiking trails, and residential properties.
California sees hundreds of rattlesnake bites each year, with most occurring during the warmer spring and summer months when snakes become more active. Wildlife officials say encounters often increase after periods of warm weather, especially in areas near open space, hillsides, creek beds, tall grass, wood piles, and rural or suburban developments.
