Coronavirus: San Mateo County Reports 33 New Cases, 3 New Deaths

San Mateo County's countywide total of known cases COVID-19 cases increased to 486.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA —San Mateo County Health reported three new deaths from the new coronavirus on Friday, bringing the countywide death toll to 13.

The total number of known COVID-19-related deaths is the second-most in the Bay Area behind Santa Clara county, which has 38.

San Mateo County also reported 33 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the countywide total of known cases to 486.

County officials believe this total represents a fraction of the actual number of residents who are infected with the new coronavirus.

“Because of limited testing capacity, the number of cases detected through testing represents only a small portion of the total number of likely cases in the county,” San Mateo County Health said on its website.
