Coronavirus: Santa Clara County Reports 75 New Cases, 2 Deaths

Santa Clara County leads the Bay Area with 1,094 confirmed COVID-19 and in known coronavirus-related deaths with 38.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Santa Clara County’s Public Health Department reported 75 new cases of the new coronavirus Friday, bringing the countywide total to 1,094.

The county also reported two additional COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the total of known coronavirus-related deaths to 38.

Santa Clara County leads the Bay Area in both the number of confirmed cases and known deaths.

The number of confirmed cases represents a fraction of the actual number of persons infected with the coronavirus.

“Because of limited testing capacity through the Public Health Laboratory, the number of cases that we detect through testing represent only a small portion of the total number of likely cases in the county,” the department said on its website.
