Crash On San Mateo-Hayward Bridge Prompts Extra Delays
Four vehicles crashed on the bridge Tuesday afternoon, according to the CHP.

A Sig-alert was temporarily issued Tuesday for the eastbound direction of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge following a collision on the span late in the afternoon, officials with the California Highway Patrol said.
Preliminary CHP reports indicate four vehicles crashed around 4:15 p.m. on the bridge, near the high rise. Injuries were reported, but it wasn't immediately clear how many people were hurt.
A sig alert was issued at 4:49 p.m., but canceled at 5:14 p.m. — though traffic delays of up to an hour were expected, according to traffic reports.

Two lanes had been blocked by the crash.
