Disaster-Preparedness: Save The Date In San Mateo County

Lunch is free, plus fun activities and exhibits for the family, along with very useful tips to be prepared for whatever may come your way.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA —An upcoming, family-friendly "Disaster-Preparedness Day," sponsored by the County of San Mateo for local residents, is planned to entertain, while also stressing the importance of advance planning for emergencies.

On the activity and exhibit agenda, along with a free lunch, for this 15th annual event, set for Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be fire trucks, SWAT and emergency-response vehicles, a "Smoky Hall & Shake House," plus bomb-squad robots, according to officials.

Classes will focus on CPR, first aid and more, with other information provided addressing school and community-safety resources. Attendees will go home with essential supplies, organizers said.

The event will be at the San Mateo Event Center at 1346 Saratoga Drive in San Mateo. While the food and event are free, parking is $15.
