Draper Pitches University Plan for Former Ben Franklin Hotel
Tuesday night's meeting revealed a first glimpse of venture capitalist Tim Draper's proposed plans to transform Benjamin Franklin hotel.
San Mateo residents attended a neighborhood meeting Tuesday night to hear about the transformation of the Ben Franklin Hotel into a school for entrepreneurs.
The site, a downtown landmark, is set to become the Draper University after prominent Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper purchased the property in April and sketched out his plans for the long-vacant hotel.
Draper, at Tuesday's meeting, emphasized the rich history of the hotel and said he's even heard stories about Bing Crosby there, according to the San Mateo Daily Journal.
