"Take a Hike" to Huddart Park

Take A Hike encourages residents to discover a San Mateo County park one Saturday each month. Participants learn about local parks and are encouraged to use the trails to stay active and healthy.

On Saturday, July 9, the hike will take place at Huddart County Park, where rangers will guide visitors on trails dominated by majestic second-growth coast redwood forest and mixed evergreen forest.

San Mateo County Supervisor Rose Jacobs Gibson will greet hikers in the main parking lot located near the park entrance.

Each month's hike begins at 9 a.m. and is between one to three miles long. Plan to spend at least 45 minutes for this activity. Rangers and volunteers lead the hikes and provide information about park history and the local habitat. Bring water, dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes.

The County's Department of Parks is implementing a new incentive system this year, rewarding participants who join at least three hikes this season.
