We are the only organization that delivers essential services and personalized support to connect the people living in poverty among us to the full range of resources and services they need. More than just ensuring our clients are fed, clothed, healthy, and housed, we help them create their own stability and remain an active, successful part of the community. Over recent years, more and more families in San Mateo County have been thrust into poverty. From the COVID-19 pandemic, to increasing wealth inequality, to the impacts of inflation and the housing crisis, the financial pressures on our neighbors have grown. Through it all, Samaritan House has been here to help – keeping pace with the demand and opening up new possibilities for people living in poverty. Though the road ahead is uncertain, we remain steadfast to our commitment to helping over 32,000 of our neighbors living in poverty every year. Acterra’s Youth Education Program offers free teacher training workshops designed to be engaging and interactive. This year, we’ll be closing out Earth Month with a solutions-focused, hands-on curriculum exploring renewable energy and electric vehicles (EVs).
During the workshop, educators will explore climate change fundamentals, learn about the benefits of Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEVs), and engage in interactive activities they can bring directly into their classrooms. The goal is to equip teachers with tools and confidence to help students understand clean energy solutions and consider choosing a ZEV as their first car when possible.
