Father Assaulted After Daughter Calls For Help
The daughter told her dad that she was being followed by a black car. He went to her rescue and was threatened with a knife and hit by a car
SAN MATEO, CA — A father was threatened with a knife and hit by a car after his daughter called to say that she was being followed, and the dad went to her rescue, according to San Mateo Police. The daughter was not harmed. The suspect was arrested.
The crime happened Sunday afternoon around 1 p.m.
Police say that the daughter called her father because she was being followed by a black colored car. "While on the phone with her, the father drove to her location and saw the vehicle was still following," according to a release from police. "As everyone was stopped at a red light at East Hillsdale Boulevard and Curtiss Street, the father got out of his car and confronted the driver of the black vehicle. The driver brandished a knife and threatened the father. The suspect then got into his vehicle and drove at the father, who was struck by the car and the impact caused him to roll onto the hood."

San Mateo Police caught up with the suspect, 24-year-old Thomas German, as he was parked near the intersection of Lodi and Norton streets. He was arrested without incident. Police say they recovered the knife used during the crime.
German was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a deadly weapon other than a firearm, and criminal threats.
