Football Rankings: San Mateo County's Top 15
Very few Zero Week surprises means little movement in hierarchy of local high school teams.

One week into the high school football season, here is a look at how San Mateo County teams stack up. The top-15 weekly rankings are drawn from all schools in the county.
1. Serra 1-0 (Last week: 1) NCS power Monte Vista and Oregon-bound QB Lockie will give Padres a WCAL-caliber test.
2. Terra Nova 0-1 (2) May take more from 32-31 road loss to SHC than any regular-season win, and there could be 9 of them.

3. Sacred Heart 1-0 (3) Best of many good signs from 39-0 demolishing of SLV – the Gators’ first shutout in 26 games.
4. Menlo-Atherton 1-0 (5) After 43-7 dusting of El Camino, Bears face daunting games against Los Gatos and SI.

5. Burlingame 1-0 (6) Lightest non-league slate in memory already benefiting confidence of inexperienced Panthers.
6. Jefferson 0-1 (4) Brawl-shortened 19-3 defeat to Milpitas gave Indians a preview of PAL Bay-level competition.
7. Menlo 1-0 (7) Rebuilt offense delivered clutch game-winning drive at Santa Cruz; ‘D’ allowed just 6 second-half points.

9. Aragon 0-0 (8) Dons must be chomping at bit to enact payback for 12-point home loss to San Mateo in 2010.
10. South San Francisco 1-0 (10) North county bragging rights on line vs. Cap; faces no-win situation with big win expected.
11. Woodside 1-0 (12) Satisfying victory signals ‘Cats should be more competitive; expect a low-scoring game vs. Burlingame.
12. Half Moon Bay 0-1 (11) Tough to assess meaning of 19-point loss to Homestead team that was 2010 CCS Div. I runner-up.

15. Hillsdale 0-1 (13) Early alarm: Aptos’ 52 points are 11 more than Knights allowed in any of 21 previous games under Parodi.
