Free Fire Alarm Installation Offered To San Mateo Residents
On Saturday, San Mateo residents can have fire alarms checked or installed by a team of trained Red Cross volunteers.
SAN MATEO, CA — A functioning smoke alarm can decrease the risk of dying in a fire by 50%, and 70% of home fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms, according to the New York State Department of Health.
Residents of San Mateo, Belmont, and Foster City can register for free fire alarm installation done by a team of trained Red Cross volunteers. On Saturday, April 2 from 10 to 2:30, volunteers will check and install free smoke alarms in homes, and provide education to homeowners about fire safety.
Smoke alarms are 10-year sealed battery alarms.
