
From the City of San Mateo: The City of San Mateo is excited to announce the Operation Eagle Visit – Homecoming 50 Years Historic Parade on Saturday, March 24th at 11am in Downtown San Mateo. This event commemorates the City’s historic adoption of the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army in 1968, and celebrates the community spirit that keeps this supportive relationship going through the present day.
Along with San Mateo, the cities of Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, Foster City, Hillsborough, Millbrae, San Carlos and San Bruno have adopted units in the 101st Airborne and are collaborating to welcome 50 troops and veterans to numerous events on the Peninsula on the weekend of March 23-25, 2018. These three days of family-friendly activities are part ofOperation Eagle Visit – Homecoming 50 Years, and the parade is the premier event that is expected to attract several thousand people to downtown San Mateo.

- 'Sore' with the Eagles – an early morning workout with the Screaming Eagles at Central Park, 7 a.m.
Saturday, March 24, 2018
- Homecoming Parade starts at 11:00 a.m. on B Street in Downtown San Mateo
- Festival in the Park from 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m. at Central Park
- Recognition Banquet and Gala - Starts at 6:00 p.m. in Burlingame
Sunday, March 25, 2018
- Memorial Observance at Golden Gate National Cemetery, 9:00 a.m., San Bruno – a morning memorial service will conclude the weekend (please call for more information)
