Knife-Wielding Man Arrested For Robbery And Threats In SMC: Police
The suspect threatened at least three people and brandished a knife before officers took him into custody, police said.
SAN MATEO, CA — A 42-year-old San Mateo resident was arrested Thursday night on multiple felony charges, including first-degree robbery, criminal threats and brandishing a deadly weapon, following an incident involving a knife, police said.
The San Mateo Police Department responded to a report at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday on the 100 block of E. 3rd Avenue, about someone reportedly asking people for money while armed with a knife, police said.
Officers said they spoke with an initial victim who said that a suspect, later identified as Jorge Castillomorales, approached them, asked for money and then brandished a knife while threatening them. The suspect stepped closer to the victim and pointed the knife at their torso as they demanded money, police said.

Castillomorales then walked to a different area of the neighborhood and contacted a second adult victim, again showing the knife in a threatening manner, police said.
Officers quickly located and detained Castillomorales nearby. A knife matching the victims' description was found next to him, police said.

Following the initial arrest, a third adult victim contacted the San Mateo Police Department by telephone to report a similar incident, police said.
No injuries were reported during any of the incidents.
The charges filed against Castillomorales included first-degree robbery, criminal threats, brandishing a deadly weapon, and public intoxication, police said.
