Laptop Thief Arrested After Kicking Cop Car Window In SMC: Police
The man stole a laptop and other items, and then kicked the police car during booking, police said.
SAN MATEO, CA — A man was arrested in San Mateo late Thursday night after stealing a laptop and other items from a store and then resisting arrest, police said.
The San Mateo Police Department responded to the 200 block of South B Street after a business owner reported that a man had stolen a laptop and other items.
Detectives said they identified the suspect as Malcolm Harper by reviewing surveillance footage.
Harper was later located in the 500 block of East 3rd Avenue wearing matching clothing, police said.

A search recovered the stolen property, which was returned to the victim, police said.
Harper was arrested for grand theft, police said. While being transported to the San Mateo County Jail, he kicked the patrol car window and door and refused to stop, resulting in an additional charge of resisting an officer, police said.

He was eventually booked into jail without further incident.
