Man Arrested In San Mateo On Drug, Firearm Allegations

SAN MATEO, CA — A 26-year-old San Leandro man was arrested in the city of San Mateo on Friday after allegedly being found with suspected cocaine, ketamine and a loaded firearm in his vehicle.

San Mateo police officers pulled over Bao Thai Pham in a traffic stop for an alleged cellphone violation at about 10 p.m. at East 25th Avenue and South El Camino Real, according to a statement from the San Mateo Police Department.

After he allegedly agreed to let police search his vehicle, officers allegedly found about a dozen baggies of suspected cocaine, one baggie of suspected ketamine, and a large amount of cash on Pham and in the vehicle.

A loaded semi-automatic pistol was also allegedly found in the trunk, along with 31 rounds of ammunition. A previous felony conviction prohibits Pham from possessing firearms, police said.

Police accused Pham of possessing the narcotics with an intent to sell and confiscated the cash.
