Man Facing Child Sex Assault Charges Extradited From Arizona To SMC: Police

The crimes began in 2007 and involved multiple victims, police said.

HILLSBOROUGH, CA — San Mateo County police extradited and arrested an Arizona man on suspicion of years of sexual assaults of children, police announced Wednesday.

Andrew Hosking, 33, a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, was extradited to San Mateo County after an investigation into allegations of child sexual assault.

An investigation was launched in June 2024 after Hillsborough Police Department officers said they received reports of past sexual assaults. These reports involved a child who was 8 years old at the time, police said. The assaults began in 2007 in Hillsborough and continued for several years, with the last assault occurring in 2015, police said.

Detectives said they believed that assaults also occurred at other locations, including Hawaii and San Francisco. A second victim in San Francisco reported being assaulted by Hosking in 2010 when they were 4 years old, police said. Investigators identified more victims and obtained statements from multiple individuals, officers said.

The San Mateo County Juvenile Court issued an arrest warrant for Hosking last April. Another warrant was later issued. Hillsborough detectives traveled to Phoenix and coordinated with local authorities to extradite and arrest Hosking. He was delivered to the San Mateo County jail.

Hosking is suspected of 14 counts of forcible lewd acts upon a child and one count of sodomy by force, police said. He is also booked on suspicion of substantial sexual contact with a victim under 14, police said.

He is currently being held without bail.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims who have not yet been identified.

"HPD understands that coming forward can be extremely difficult, especially when time has passed, and we want the community to know these reports are taken seriously and handled with care and professionalism," police said.

Some of the crimes occurred when Hosking was under 18. The case initially proceeded in juvenile court, according to police. In late January, his case was transferred to adult court in San Mateo County.
