Man Tased In Stomach Over Laundry Dispute At SMC Home: Police

Officers said the confrontation began over household chores before escalating.

SAN MATEO, CA — A dispute over laundry escalated into violence Monday night when a man used a Taser on another person during an argument at a San Mateo residence, police said.

Officers responded around 9:31 p.m. to the 2900 block of South El Camino Real after receiving reports of a fight in which someone had been tased, according to the San Mateo Police Department.

Police said they detained a suspect identified as Mamoon Shehadeh at the scene and interviewed the people involved and witnesses.

Investigators determined the fight involved people who knew each other and began as a dispute over laundry. During the confrontation, Shehadeh pulled out a Taser and fired it, striking the man in the stomach, police said.

Shehadeh was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, assault with a stun gun and brandishing a deadly weapon other than a firearm, police said.

After being medically cleared at a local hospital for injuries related to the altercation, he was booked into the San Mateo County Jail, officials said.
