MOZART'S GRAND MASS - Masterworks Chorale October 25-26

Mozart - Humanizing a Genius

Mozart - Humanizing a Genius
Masterworks Chorale presents its 51st season opener concerts on October 25-26 at Carlmont Performing Arts Center, 1400 Alameda de las Pulgas in Belmont, CA.

Written as a deeply-felt expression of love, gratitude and devotion, Mozart’s Grand Mass in C Minor stands at the pinnacle of the composer’s artistic achievement. Profoundly personal and universal, the Grand Mass expresses a stunning range of human emotion and experience, from the ravishing opening and the joyous central fugue, to the anguished double chorus and impassioned conclusion. Masterworks’ 90-voice chorus gives life to this brilliant work along with full orchestra and professional soloists, including marvelous soloists Maya Kherani, Lindsay Roush, Mason Gates Neipp and Ben Kazez.

One of the true masterworks of the choral orchestral repertoire, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, the ‘Grand Mass’, expresses a tremendous range of human emotion. It is in order to describe music like this that we have the adjective ‘sublime.’ We round out this concert program with an a cappella arrangement for women‘s chorus of the Overture to THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO and shorter works by Beethoven and Mendelssohn.
