Nearly $4k In Booze Stolen From Two Bay Area Grocery Stores

Police arrested a 20-year-old man and two 16-year-olds in connection to the grand theft.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Police arrested one adult and two teens after they robbed two different Safeways Monday in San Mateo County and then fled at a high rate of speed, police said.

The San Mateo Police Department received a report of grand theft at around 3:27 p.m. on Monday at the Safeway located at 1655 S El Camino Real in San Mateo, police said.

Officers said two teen suspects stole around $1,199 worth of various alcohol and then left in a silver Audi sedan, which was driven by a third suspect, later identified as Fardy Robles, 20, of Antioch.

The suspects then stole approximately $2,500 worth of products from a nearby Safeway, fled from officers at a high rate of speed and were detained shortly after, police said.

Officers arrested Robles for grand theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, evading a peace officer, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.

The two teens were each 16 years old and police said they arrested them each for grand theft and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Robles was booked into the San Mateo County Jail and the two teens were released into the care of the respective parents or guardians, police said.
