New App For San Mateo County To Provide Updates To Residents

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County created a new app to communicate with residents about announcements and events.
The app, called Simplicity, will deliver health updates, public safety information, news about schools and local event information, according to a news release. It was originally adopted in Menlo Park, and has since been picked up in Burlingame, Colma, Foster City, Hillsborough, Atherton and East Palo Alto before being rolled out county-wide.
Simplicity is free and doesn’t require an account to use. Residents can choose their city and notification preferences for what they’d like to see.

“It is great that the County of San Mateo has one more tool to reach our residents with important news, events and even emergency alerts,” County Manager Mike Callagy said in a news release. “I encourage all county residents to sign up through their city of residence and follow the County so that we can all be better connected through a trusted channel.”
The app will soon include a Spanish translation feature, along with a pet directory to find lost pets and information about community funding.
