Peninsula Brushfire Near Highway 92 Snarls Rush Hour Traffic

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A brushfire that snarled Peninsula freeway traffic during Tuesday evening’s commute exit has been extinguished, the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department said.
The quarter-acre blaze shut down at state Highway 92 at the Ralston exit reported at about 5:15 p.m. shut down all lanes of westbound freeway traffic for several hours according to a report in The San Jose Mercury News.
The fire started in grass and wood chips and put out a large amount of smoke, but no homes or buildings are threatened, officials said.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area of state Highway 92 in both directions at the Ralston exit in San Mateo due to a brushfire Friday evening.
