Peninsula Traffic Patrol Yields Over 200 Citations In 1 Day
A one-day traffic enforcement operation on the Peninsula yielded 265 citations, including 131 for cell phone violations, police said.
SAN MATEO county, CA — A traffic enforcement operation on Tuesday around San Mateo yielded 265 citations, including 131 for cell phone violations, police said.
The operation involving 29 traffic officers from around San Mateo County, focused on known safety "trouble spots" in San Mateo and Foster City, the Burlingame Police Department said in a statement.
Officers on Tuesday made more than 280 stops and issued 265 citations for these violations:

- 131 citations for cell phone violations
- 41 citations for failing to stop at a stop sign
- 31 citations for failing to obey a posted sign
- 29 citations for speeding
- 16 citations for "miscellaneous violations"
- 8 citations for seat belt violations
- 5 citations for red light violations
- 3 citations for failing to yield to a pedestrian
- 1 citation for driving while unlicensed
Two people were also arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for outstanding warrants, police said.
This traffic deployment was the second of several operations planned for San Mateo County this year, authorities said.
