Peninsula Woman Accused Of Embezzling Elementary School Funds

Police arrested a former PTA treasurer, accusing her of embezzling more than $80,000 over a two-year period.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A San Bruno woman has been arrested after being accused of embezzling more than $80,000 from the Parent Teacher Association at John Muir Elementary School, San Bruno police said Thursday.

Lani Martha D’Arcy, 42, is a former treasurer of the PTA, and is accused of embezzling the money starting June 2017 through June 2019.

Police were notified on Aug. 30 that money was missing from the PTA's checking account, and after an investigation, arrested D'Arcy Wednesday afternoon.
