PG&E Shutoff To Begin In San Mateo County On Thursday: Latest

A National Weather Service red flag warning is set to go in effect for San Mateo County. Here's the latest on the weather-related shutoff.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Pacific Gas and Electric Company will turn off power in parts of San Mateo County starting at 1 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. A red flag warning, indicating high winds and severe fire danger, will be in effect for parts of the county from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 4 p.m. Thursday.

The shutoffs are only expected to affect 372 people in San Mateo County — down from an original projection of 372. The affected cities will be La Honda, San Gregorio, Woodside and other unincorporated parts of the county.

PG&E will start re-energizing the power lines at noon Thursday, the county said. Because San Mateo County has relatively few impacted customers, the utility said power should not take long to be restored.
