San Mateo Street Reopened After Hazardous Material Incident
Several blocks in San Mateo were temporarily closed Sunday morning as police worked to contain a potentially hazardous material.

SAN MATEO, CA — The potentially hazardous material that caused several San Mateo blocks to be shut down Sunday morning has been cleared and the area has been reopened, police said.
Around 9 a.m., police asked the public to avoid South B Street between 14th and 16th avenues in San Mateo as they worked to contain a hazard caused by an old freezer leaking. Those in the area were asked to shelter in place.
By 9:42 a.m., the hazard had been cleared, police said.
