San Mateo Approves Two Major Housing Projects: Report
The projects will create nearly 1,100 between the two. Both passed unanimously.
SAN MATEO, CA — The San Mateo City Council on Tuesday approved two separate housing developments, The San Mateo Daily Journal reports.
The Concar Passage mixed-use project and the 100 percent affordable MidPen development both passed unanimously according to the report.
The 961-unit Concar development will transform a 14.5-parcel on the site of the Concar Shopping Center into a multi-purpose development that includes 40,000 square feet of commercial space and a 4.67-acre parcel reserved for publicly accessible open space, the report said.

The 225-unit MinPen project, which was designed by a nonprofit, calls for the construction of a seven-story building with a five-level garage connected by a pedestrian bridge. The project will be built on a city-owned parcel at 480 E. Fourth Ave. and 400 E. Fifth Ave. according to the report.
The MidPen project includes a plaza at the corner of Fourth and Railroad avenues that would be accessible to the public.
