San Mateo County Adopts Ballot Tracking Tool
San Mateo becomes the state's 26th county to adopt the ballot tracking tool.
SACRAMENTO, CA — Ever wonder what happens to your mail-in ballot after you drop it off at the Post Office?
San Mateo County residents who vote by mail will soon be able to make sure their ballots get to where they need to go by the time they need to get there.
California Secretary of State Alex Padilla announced Friday that San Mateo adopted the “Where’s My Ballot?” vote-by-mail tracking tool.

Voters can sign up for the tool here.
Voters who sign up for the tool can receive automatic notifications on the status of their mail-in ballots by email, text, or voice call.

Voters who sign up for “Where’s My Ballot?” will also receive communications from their county elections office about important election deadlines and critical updates such as polling place changes.
San Mateo becomes the state’s 26th county to adopt the ballot tracking tool, but just the second of the Bay Area’s nine counties to do so. Marin is the other.
“San Mateo County voters who sign up for ‘Where’s My Ballot?’ can rest assured that their vote-by-mail ballots are accounted for at every stage of delivery,” Padilla said.

“Signing-up takes just a couple of minutes, and voters will enjoy automatic updates on the delivery status of their vote-by-mail ballot for each and every election. As more voters look to cast their ballots by mail during this health pandemic, this tool will provide peace of mind that voting by mail is safe and secure.”
