San Mateo Dirt Devils Clean Up in Fall Softball League

The 10-under team beats San Carlos Sliders for the title.

The number 13 proved to be lucky for the San Mateo Dirt Devils, a Under-10 division softball team that entered the Jane Eymer Fall Softball League playoffs last month as the No. 4 seed and ended as the division champions.

JEFSL is a fall softball league that covers the peninsula from San Bruno to Mountain View/Los Altos.  The eighteen teams in the U10 division were divided into three divisions, American, National, and Continental.

The Dirt Devils (10-2) competed in the America division, finishing second behind the undefeated MVLA Nova Black.

The fourth-seeded Dirt Devils downed Belmont in their opening game of the double elimination tournament before losing to Nova for the third time.

A fourth matchup with the Nova proved successful. Behind the stellar pitching of Makaila Tuakoi and Nicole Siotos, the Dirt Devils shut out Nova, 3-0, to advance to the championship game against the San Carlos Sliders.

The bats came alive for the Dirt Devils and they won the championship, 17-6.

The 13 Dirt Devils are: Shannon Galliano, Nadia and Skylar Barcklay, Nicole Siotos, Karla Alvarez, Sofia Marquez, Makaila Tuakoi, Camille Carter, Olivia DiNardo, Siulolovao Folau, Ruby Jones, Jazmyne Barquain, and Isabel Bojorquez.

The San Mateo Dirt Devils ended their season with a final record of 12-3. They are looking forward to their upcoming spring season in SMYSA where they will all be divided amongst teams in their respective age groups.
