San Mateo Man Charged In Child Sex Case

SAN MATEO, CA — A San Mateo man was charged with multiple felonies for allegedly soliciting sexually explicit material through a fake Instagram account, the San Mateo Police Department said in a news release.

Wai Kit Ching, 29, who is also known as Raymond Ching, was arrested Tuesday and arraigned on Thursday on seven counts of committing lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, eight counts of contacting a minor with intent to commit a felony and one count of possession of child pornography along with enhanced charges for sex crimes according to police.

The suspect allegedly identified himself as a 15-year-old female who went by “Alicia Harris,” police said, soliciting sexual photos and videos from teenage boys worldwide, police said.

A referral from Eden Prairie Police Department, Minnesota, triggered the investigation, police said.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and detectives with the SMPD served a warrant at his Camden Avenue home on Thursday.

“Ching was contacted, provided a confession, and was placed under arrest,” police said.
