San Mateo Man Killed In Shooting At Mobile Home Park

According to police, a neighbor shot the man in the chest and then contacted authorities.

SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo police are investigating a shooting that occurred at a mobile home park near Fashion Island Boulevard and South Norfolk Street on Sunday that left a 57-year-old man dead.

According to police, a neighbor shot the man in the chest and then contacted authorities. Police also received additional calls about shots fired in the area. The two men knew each other and were arguing prior to the incident, police said.

The man was transported to a local trauma center and underwent emergency surgery, but did not survive. The suspect, 57-year-old San Mateo resident Allen Carl Runchey, was taken into custody, according to police.

Police have yet to determine a motive and are interviewing witnesses in the ongoing investigation.
