San Mateo Police Union Backs Lee For City Council
Lee, who was appointed to fill a vacancy on the City Council late last year, is the first Asian-American woman to serve on the council.
SAN MATEO, CA — The San Mateo Police Officers Association has endorsed Councilwoman Amourence Lee in this year’s race for two open council seats.

Lee, who was appointed to fill a vacancy on the City Council late last year, is the first Asian-American woman to serve on the council.
She was endorsed unanimously by the group’s nine-member board, SMPOA President Rory McMilton said in a statement.

“Amourence Lee quickly established her reputation as a fierce advocate for affordable housing, public safety and civil rights,” McMilton said.
“Since I assumed the role of POA president in January 2020, I have had the opportunity to observe and be directly involved in several initiatives Councilwoman Lee has spearheaded. I can say with absolute certainty that ‘Amo’ is an authentic leader who has shown she has the experience, knowledge, skills and wisdom to lead San Mateo through the next four years which hold an unprecedented amount of uncertainty.
