San Mateo Police Union Backs Papan In Council Race
Incumbent councilmember lauded as "an effective public safety partner."
SAN MATEO, CA — The San Mateo Police Officers Association has endorsed Diane Papan in this year’s City Council race.
The SMPOA lauded the incumbent councilmember in a Facebook post announcing the endorsement as “an effective public safety partner” with a “long history of civic leadership and public service working to keep San Mateo a safe, healthy, and prepared community.”
“Councilmember Papan provides San Mateo families with the experienced, effective leadership we rely on in extraordinarily challenging times. We are proud to support her reelection,” San Mateo Police Officers Association President Rory McMilton said in a statement.

The police union credits Papan for promoting efforts to effectively respond to the health crisis while addressing local issues such as traffic reduction, affordable housing, and public safety.
“It is more important than ever to have trusted, effective leadership championing community priorities and an inclusive, safe, and healthy city for each and every resident and family,” the SMPOA said.
