San Mateo Proclamation Celebrates 19th Amendment Centennial

The historic landmark that culminated a hard-fought battle won by suffragettes.

SAN MATEO, CA — The city of San Mateo earlier this week issued a proclamation celebrating the centennial of the 19th Amendment, the historic landmark that culminated a hard-fought battle won by suffragettes.

“While much has changed over the last 100 years, there are still people across the country fighting to preserve their civic rights to participate in our democracy,’ the city said in a statement on its Facebook page.

“Our City Council issued a proclamation last night commemorating those advocates who’ve come before us, while recognizing there is still work to be done.”
